Dylan Harrison, a Georgian police officer who was shot dead on his first shift on Saturday, leaving a woman and a 6-month-old baby behind.
During a press conference, he was shot dead outside the Alamo police station at around 1 a.m. Georgia Bureau of Investigation [GBI] spokesperson Natalie Ammons on Saturday.

Harrison, a native of Dudley, was in his first part-time job with the Alamo Police Department when he was killed. He has been in law enforcement since 2018 and has also served full-time on the GBI’s drug working group in Eastmond, authorities said.
Police did not provide any information about what sparked the shooting. However, they named a suspect: Damian Ferguson, 43, also known as Luke Ferguson.
GBI spokeswoman Natalie Ammons said Harrison’s body was taken to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy. At 2:30 p.m. at a press conference on Saturday, October 9, it was said that the investigation was “very active” and that Ferguson’s arrest was a top priority.

GBI offered a reward of $17,500 for any information leading to Ferguson’s arrest.
Authorities have also issued a nationwide “blue alert” to warn of the runaway suspect who killed an officer and could pose a threat to the community.
“Anyone with information on Ferguson’s whereabouts or information they consider relevant to this investigation should contact us,” Ammons said.
The investigation is “very active”, he said.
His Wife And Children
Harrison was the husband and father of a 6-month-old boy, authorities said. The family lived in Dudley, Georgia, officials said at the press conference.
Officials noted that Harrison also worked as a full-time officer for the Oconee Anti-Drugs Task Force in Dodge County, Georgia.
Many police departments in Georgia and across the country have paid tribute to the deceased officer on social media.
Tributes Paid in Honor of Dylan Harrison
Condolences to Harrison’s family flooded social media in the hours following his death. This included a post from the Georgia Department of Public Safety honoring Harrison on Twitter.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of the loss of the Alamo Police Department officer who was killed on duty this morning,” the Georgia DPS wrote on Twitter.
“We send our thoughts and prayers to the officer’s family, blood and blue.”
Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp also posted a tribute to Harrison on Twitter.
“This morning, one of our law enforcement officers in Central Georgia died on duty. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, and colleagues of this Alamo policeman,” he wrote on Twitter.
“May God continue to be with all who protect and serve.”
