Dubai Tycoon Dismisses Security Concerns Over Disappearance Of Titanic Submarine
A Dubai-based business tycoon who previously explored the Titanic wreck has dismissed safety concerns about the submersible, saying there were no problems during his expedition last year.
The chief executive of British oil and gas exploration company San Leon Energy, Oisin Fanning, made the high seas voyage with the two crew members currently on board the missing vessel.
From his own experience, he denied having felt unsafe during his trip and dismissed any recent safety concerns that he had raised.
According to several reports, the 22-foot vessel has only one window, toilet, and privacy curtain. Control is via a modified game controller, which only costs $30, but the entire trip to the Titanic wreck costs $250,000 per person.
Fanning said the container is made of strong material and won’t rupture, adding that the hose was properly sealed, making it difficult for it to spill or spill.
He made those comments in response to circulating reports from a former OceanGate employee who raised concerns about the ship’s safety during a technical review in 2018.
David Locridge, OceanGate’s director of marine operations, mentioned in the report that the ship needed further testing and that passengers could be at risk if it descended to extreme depths, according to a 2018 lawsuit in the US District Court in Seattle is called.
OceanGate sued Lochridge earlier this year for breaching a confidentiality agreement. However, he filed a countersuit, alleging that OceanGate illegally fired him for raising concerns about testing and safety.
The case was secretly solved several months after it was filed. The case was just one of many issues highlighted around the ship. In 2018, the Marine Technology Society issued another warning to OceanGate.
