In a recent sweep, police arrested nine individuals found asking for money in public. Teams were sent across the city to locate those breaking the rules.

Officials have warned that anyone caught begging could face up to three months in jail along with a fine of 5,000 dirhams.

Residents are urged to report beggars through various channels, including the “Police Eye” mobile app and the 901 helpline. This move is part of a broader crackdown aimed at stopping begging and raising awareness about the issue.

Before Ramadan started, Dubai Police launched the “Donate Wisely” campaign. The campaign asks residents to support only recognized charitable organizations rather than handing cash to individuals on the streets. Officials mention that many beggars share false stories to trick people out of money, often targeting busy streets, mosques, and other crowded places.

By choosing where to donate, residents help make sure their contributions benefit those truly in need and protect the community from scams.
