Dubai And Abu Dhabi Are Rising in The World Rankings As Elite Destinations

Dubai and Abu Dhabi were ranked among the top 10 cities in the “Cities of Choice” study by Boston Consulting Group (BCG), one of the world’s largest consulting firms.

Other cities in the Middle East were also evaluated, including Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Mecca (Saudi Arabia), Doha (Qatar), and Kuwait (Kuwait).

The researchers surveyed nearly 50,000 respondents from 79 cities. They were asked to rate more than 150 economic, social, and political indicators across five dimensions, including economic opportunity, quality of life, social capital, interactions with government, and speed of change.

Dubai ranks ninth in the Cruiser Weight Cities study. When it comes to economic opportunities, Dubai scored 71 out of 100, showing a positive environment for businesses and start-ups. In the quality of life category, it scored just 51 points, with room for improvement.

Dubai is a fantastic place for wealthy people as it offers them a luxurious quality of life, but for low-income people, the quality of life is much lower due to the lack of affordable housing projects.

Abu Dhabi was ranked ninth among the “middle-weight cities” in the study. Home to 1.5 million people, it scored 73 out of 100 in the Economic Opportunity category, beating the Emirates’ financial capital. In the quality of life dimension, it only achieved 43 points due to poorer social and infrastructural development than Dubai.

Despite its small population, Abu Dhabi has positioned itself as a global player and a center for business and innovation. However, the study recommends that Abu Dhabi invest more in public transport, green spaces, and social services.
