Tory MP Sir David Amess has died after being stabbed multiple times in his constituency of Essex.
Police said a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder after attacking a church in Leigh-on-Sea.

When he was stabbed, the MP for Southend West was meeting with constituents as part of regular operations at Belfair Methodist Church in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex.
Police were called to Eastwood Road North just after 12:05 p.m. BST on Friday, where they found Sir David with multiple injuries.
He was taken care of by the emergency services but died instantly.
The attack was declared a terrorist incident.
Officials from the Metropolitan Police Counterterrorism Command are leading the investigation, and police said the initial investigation revealed “potential motivation linked to Islamist extremism.”
Police believe the man acted alone, but investigations into the circumstances are ongoing.
Anthony Finch, who worked nearby, told Sky News: “We came to work in the adjacent building… still in the building.”
He said he saw armed police, as well as a police ambulance and helicopter. He told LBC: “It’s very strange and very scary for sure.”
Lee Jordison, who worked for local butchers and was on site shortly after the knife fight, told the BBC everyone in the area was in shock.
“It doesn’t happen, not in all the years I’ve been like this.”
Who Are The Suspects To Be Arrested?
Essex Police said a 25-year-old Briton was arrested on suspicion of murder after police arrived at the scene and a knife was recovered.
Government sources have told the BBC that he is a British citizen who appears to be of Somali descent according to initial inquiries.
He is being held at an Essex police station and officials have said they are not looking for anyone else.
What Police Have Investigated Up Till Now?
Essex Police Chief BJ Harrington said he received reports of a stabbing shortly after 12:05 p.m. BST, and within minutes officers found Sir David with multiple injuries.
Police and paramedics “worked very hard” to save him, but he died at the scene, Harrington said.
Police have asked anyone who saw the attack or has CCTV footage, dash cameras, or video doorbells to contact them.
Southend City Councilor John Lamb told the BBC Sir David had moved his operations to different parts of the constituency “to hit the people” and said the attack was “absolutely horrific”.
“We have lost a very good electoral representative who worked hard and who worked for everyone,” he said.
