Chiquita Broadnax And Cedarrius Tell Die When A Large Tree Falls On Their Home
A mother and her eight-year-old son died in their sleep after a tornado toppled a giant pine tree in their home.
Chiquita Broadnax, 39, and Cedarrius Tell were sleeping in the same bed when an EF-2 tornado downed a pine tree on their mobile home Tuesday night.
Cedric Lamar Tell, Cedarrius’ father, who slept in another room, was discovered entangled in the rubble.
He underwent surgery after being rushed to hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive the horrific experience.
On November 29, the tornado swept through the neighborhood, injuring 23 residents as it swept through four southern states.
Her bed was right in the middle of the tree when she fell, a family member named Norman Bennett told WAAY 31. The woman and child were hit.
He claimed that the neighbors left their homes after hearing his father Cedric crying in pain.
He cried, “Find my baby. Find my son,” Norman added.
The Flatwood Community Center, which was also destroyed by the devastating tornado, was right next to the family’s trailer.
The center’s director, Chenita Staley, paid tribute to Cedarrius, describing him as “friendly” and “a lover of dinosaurs.”
He loved his dinosaurs and was quiet, but he got along with everyone.
Chiquita, the boy’s mother, was praised for her community service and for being a “lovely lady” who always brought ice cream to the kids.
