ChatGPT Creates Jobs That Make Up To 335,000 USD
AI prompt engineering is a newly created field thanks to AI that requires the expertise to create prompts that get the desired responses from AI models like ChatGPT.
Compensation for prompt engineering roles is quite attractive. For example, Anthropic, an artificial intelligence company, is currently offering a “prompt engineer and librarian” position with a salary range of $175,000 to $335,000 per year.
In addition, other companies are also looking for AI prompt engineers.
What is AI Prompt Engineering?
The role of an AI prompt engineer is to use rapid engineering techniques to develop and improve AI models. In essence, rapid engineering can be thought of as guiding a model to perform a task by providing detailed steps or “instructions”.
A significant part of a prompt engineer’s job focuses on working with large language models such as GPT-3 (or the future GPT-4). These models have the ability to generate text responses similar to those of humans.
The primary goal of an ad engineer is to create ads that produce desired language model outcomes. In addition, they are working to improve the models to produce more accurate and relevant text results.
The plus is that you don’t have to code all day, but you still need coding skills to get started. This knowledge is necessary to work with datasets, develop and refine language models, and collaborate with software engineers and data scientists.
Speed Engineers can earn up to 335,000 USD at Anthropic, a company specializing in the development of general AI systems and language models. The company’s affiliation with Google, which has invested almost $400 million, could explain the high compensation.
It should be noted that the field of prompt engineering is relatively new, being less than two years old. As such, the specific responsibilities of prompt engineers may vary from company to company. Additionally, similar positions at other companies may not offer as competitive a salary as Anthropic.
