ChatGPT Cleared The US Medical Licensing Exam
Based on the results of a recent experiment, OpenAI’s ChatGPT passed all three parts of the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) in a single sitting.
The USMLE is a comprehensive, three-tiered, large-scale standardized testing program that covers all topics related to medical knowledge, such as Basic research, clinical reasoning, medication management, and bioethics. It usually takes about four years and more than two years of clinical cycles for a medical student to be successful.
According to the researchers, ChatGPT scored at or near pass levels on all three tests without additional training or reinforcement. Additionally, the ChatGPT explanations showed a high level of consistency and understanding.
These results imply that extended language models (LLMs) have the potential to support medical education and possibly clinical decision-making.
This isn’t the first time ChatGPT has excelled in a test. Professors from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania found a few days ago that the chatbot could easily pass tests in a common MBA core subject, operations management.
However, the chatbot has limitations, e.g. B. that he does not answer more complex questions about process analysis.
Researchers recently evaluated GPT-3.5 using subjects from the United States bar exam. They expect the GPT-4 and similar models to pass the test fairly quickly.
Additionally, the researchers found that hyperparameter tuning and fast engineering improved GPT-3.5’s zero-shot performance.
