The Gwadar International Airport in Pakistan is expected to be operational next year, according to the country’s aviation regulator. The airport, a crucial part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), has faced multiple delays in its inauguration, with the latest setback attributed to unspecified reasons.
New Schedule Announced by CAA for Gwadar International Airport Operations
The new deadline set by the Civil Aviation Authority indicates potential further delays. The airport, funded entirely by the Chinese government for $230 million, is located 26km east of Gwadar city and is anticipated to be the second-largest airport in Pakistan.

The project aims to enhance infrastructure and economic development in the region, facilitating connectivity and fostering business opportunities. The completion deadline, initially set for March 2023, has been pushed back.
The Civil Aviation Authority has issued a three-month flight operation schedule for Gwadar Airport, with operations scheduled for three days per week (Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday) from December 1 to February 28, 2024. Non-scheduled flights must notify the airport administration 24 hours in advance.
