It appears that a Boeing 737 with cargo crashed into the sea off the coast of Honolulu. The aircraft is a 46-year-old Boeing 737-200, registration N810TA. Rhodes Aviation operates it in the colors of Transair.
Early reports suggest the plane was safely abandoned, with both pilots having already been rescued.
What do we know so far?
Since it is common soon after an incident, facts tend to be rare, but they happen quickly. It appears that the N810TA fell overboard shortly after taking off from Hawaii.
The FAA has confirmed the affected aircraft, according to a tweet from Reuters’ David Shepardson.
After an engine failure, the aircraft made an emergency landing at sea at around 2:30 a.m. It appears that there was not enough altitude to return to Honolulu, causing the plane to sink into the sea.
There were two pilots onboard the plane. Both are said to have survived and were rescued by the US Coast Guard.

As per the data from RadarBox.com, the plane took off from Honolulu at 1:33 a.m., with initial service tracking data showing the plane reached a maximum altitude of just 2,125 feet after takeoff.
The airline’s correct path appears relatively slow and stable, suggesting that the pilots could slide the plane through the ocean in a controlled manner. Flight following data stopped at around 1:45 a.m. with a recorded final altitude of 75 feet.
As per the audio recorded by LiveATC.com, the pilots told the duty controller, “Rhoades 810, we’ve lost an engine. We are on course 220.” A few minutes later, the pilot reports: “We have lost the number one engine, we are leaving for the airport, we need the fire brigade, it is possible that we will lose the other engine, it’s very hot … it doesn’t look good here, maybe you should also let the coast guard know.”
When it became clear that the plane was going to crash, the plane was cleared to fly directly to the airport, landing on an approved runway.
Shortly after, the pilots could be heard saying to another plane, “Looks like you’ve sunk in the water.”
