BIEK To Amend Annual Intermediate Board Exams Schedule
The Board of Intermediate Education, Karachi (BIEK) suggested the exams be postponed to next year due to the increased risk of heat waves in May and June.
Annual intermediate board exams are traditionally held in May and June in Sindh, including Karachi. However, the increased risk of heat waves as a result of climate change has raised concerns for student welfare.
In a letter to Sindh’s Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah, chairman of the Karachi Intermediate Council, Professor Saeeduddin offered to postpone the annual exams to April and May next year to mitigate the risks associated with heat waves in May and June.
The letter noted that the intense heat of those months made it difficult for students and administrators to take exams effectively.
Professor Saeeduddin asked the Steering Committee to agree to the postponement of the intermediate board exams at its next meeting and then seek approval from the competent authority.
It should be noted that the annual inter-board exams have started today, May 30th, across Sindh, including Karachi, and will continue until June 27th.
