Bronze Star winner Dr. Richard Jadick, 56, the most decorated medic in the Iraq war, described the rescue of Fox News correspondent Benjamin Hall, who was wounded by Russian forces during fighting on the outskirts of Kyiv and trapped in the combat zone.
Last month, a distinguished Navy doctor described how he rescued Hall, who was trapped in the combat zone and in need of urgent medical attention.
The Bronze Star winner, Dr. Richard Jadick, 56, the most decorated medic in the Iraq war, told Fox News he was teaching a course in Tennessee when combat rescue organization Save Our Allies called him to say they needed his help evacuating the Americans.
“Dr. Richard Jadick received the Bronze Star for heroism after treating 30 Marines in the Second Battle of Fallujah and Hall in Ukraine prior to his evacuation to the United States.
I got the call, I went home. I packed, got on a plane, and told my family where I was going,” Jadick said. “Later in the week, we received a call to move to Kyiv where we had to evacuate a critically injured patient.”
It turned out that this patient was Hall.
“I was in the right place at the right time,” Jadick said humbly.
Jadick flew to Poland first, but upon learning that the reporter needed his help, he didn’t hesitate to parachute into the combat zone.
He arrived at the hospital where Hall was being treated and introduced himself.
“I looked at Ben and looked at him and said, ‘Ben, you don’t know me, my name is Rich Jadick, I’m a surgeon, I’m here to get you out of here.
Hall was eager to cooperate.
“When do you want to go?” Jadick said, the reporter replied.
