Who is Banu Negar of Afghanistan? Biography, Wiki

Banu Negar was an Afghan policewoman. In a provincial town in Afghanistan Taliban fighters shot a Negar, relatives told the BBC.

She was killed in front of relatives at her family home in Firozkoh, the capital of central Ghor Province.

Banu Negar’s Age

Her age isn’t clear yet.

What Was The Incident?

Details of the incident are still vague as many in Firozkoh fear retaliation if they speak up.

Relatives provided graphic images of blood splattered on a wall in the corner of a room and a corpse with a severely disfigured face.

As per one report, Negar, who worked at the local prison, was eight months pregnant. The Taliban involved had been spoken in Arabic, said a witness.

The BBC has asked the Taliban authorities to comment. The local Taliban have vowed to investigate, the family said.

Why is The Human Rights Group Protesting?

Since taking power on the 13th of August, the Taliban have tried to be more tolerant than their reputation.

However, incidents of brutality and repression are still reported in parts of the country.

Human rights groups have documented revenge killings, imprisonments and the persecution of religious minorities.

The Taliban have officially stated that they will not retaliate against those who worked for the previous government.

On Saturday, Taliban officials broke up a demonstration by dozens of women in Kabul demanding the upholding of the rights acquired during the previous Taliban’s tenure.

The group claims the Taliban attacked them with tear gas and pepper spray when they tried to walk from a bridge to the presidential palace.

But the Taliban say the protest has gotten out of hand, as per the Afghan media’s Tolo News. It was the latest of several women’s protests in Kabul and Herat.

“25 years ago, when the Taliban arrived, they prevented me from going to school,” journalist Azita Nazimi told Tolo.

“After five years in government, I studied and worked hard for 25 years. For the sake of our better future, we will not allow this to happen.”

Another protester, Soraya, told Reuters: “They also hit the women on the head with a gun magazine and the women were smeared with blood.”
