With just a few days to go before the tournament, preparations for the Asia Cup 2022 are in full swing. Qualifying for the tournament is now underway in Oman, with four teams battling for the only remaining spot to rank among the top five cricket nations in Asia.
As for the five teams in the main round of the event, this tournament offers the perfect opportunity to bring your squads together and get some crucial training ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022.
This is the 15th edition of the tournament since its inception in 1984. India was the inaugural winner and is the tournament’s most successful team, having won a record seven times. Sri Lanka won the tournament five times while Pakistan won the title twice. Bangladesh and Afghanistan have yet to win the competition.
There were some issues for the teams ahead of the tournament as some of their key players were eliminated from the tournament due to injuries. Pakistan lost their top pacesetter Shaheen Afridi, India is without their top pacesetter Jasprit Bumrah and Sri Lanka also lost their top sprinter Dushmantha Chameera ahead of the tournament.
Nonetheless, the tournament promises to be exciting as arch-rivals Pakistan and India meet for the first time since the 2021 T20 World Cup. Pakistan will look to record another comprehensive win over India as the Men in Blue seek revenge. his record loss in the previous game.
Similarly, countries like Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka will try to put their stamp on the tournament and do everything in their power to claim the title.

Asia Cup 2022 Groups
According to the format of the tournament, the teams were divided into two groups of three teams each. Big rivals Pakistan and India are placed in Group A and will be joined by a qualifier, while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan are placed in Group B.
The top two teams from each pool advance to the Super 4 round, where each team plays the other once.
The two best teams at the end of the Super 4 phase qualify for the tournament finals.

Asia Cup 2022 Schedule
The main round of the tournament begins on the 27th of August with the opening match between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. The blockbuster clash between Pakistan and India will be played on 28th August at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The Super 4 round will start on September 3rd and the tournament final will be played on September 11th.
Qualifying for the main round is now underway, with Singapore, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait battling for the remaining spot in the tournament.
