Arianna Delane, George Floyd’s niece, was shot dead in her bed in an apartment in Houston on January 1, 2022, as per police and her family. No arrests were made.
Her family told ABC 13 that they believed their home was attacked, but police could not find a motive or suspect for the shooting.

The shooting took place around 2.55 a.m. at 3322 Yellowstone Boulevard, according to a Houston Police Department press release. The 4-year-old girl was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive, authorities said.
“Why should you tear down my house? My daughter doesn’t know. I can’t explain it to her. As a parent, you should protect children,” her father Derrick Delane told ABC 13.
“One or more suspects fired multiple shots at an apartment at the above address while there were four adults and two children in the apartment,” said Houston police.
“One of the children was shot in the chest. She was transported to a hospital in the operating theater in a private vehicle and is currently in stable condition. There is currently no description or suspicious motive for the shooting.”
Delane told ABC 13 that her daughter was sleeping in her second-floor room when the shooting occurred – a one-year-old girl was actually injured.
She didn’t know what was happening. She slept. The news channel reported that he had a punctured lung and three broken ribs. Her mother took her to the hospital, Delane told the news network.

Arianna is still recovering at a local Houston hospital, according to police and her family. His father told Click 2 Houston, “It heals very quickly. The last time I checked she was breathing on her own. She was doing very well. He told ABC 13 that the family felt lucky that Arianna was not killed in the shooting.”

Arianna is George Floyd’s great-niece. His mother Bianca Williams is his niece. Williams’ mother, LaTonya Floyd, is Floyd’s sister. George Floyd was originally from Houston and was buried in his hometown after being killed by a Minneapolis police officer in 2020.

According to her family, Arianna has attended her great-uncle’s protests, rallies, and memorials in Houston.
The Major Assault Division of the Houston Police Department is investigating. Police said in a statement, “Anyone with information should contact the HPD Domestic Violence and Serious Assault Division at 713-308-8800 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS in this case.”
