Apple TV App Finally Arrives on Android Phones and Tablets

Last Updated on: 16th February 2025, 05:05 am

Starting today, Android users can download the Apple TV app on their smartphones and tablets—if they’re running Android 10 or later. Until now, the app was only available on Apple devices and select smart TVs with Android TV or Google TV.

What Can You Watch Apple TV on Android?

Android users can now stream Apple TV+ shows, movies, and MLS Season Pass games right from their mobile devices. Soccer fans can subscribe to the MLS package for $12.99 per month or $79 per season, while an Apple TV+ subscription costs $9.99 monthly. Live Friday Night Baseball games are included, too.

You can sign in with an existing Apple ID or create a new one directly in the app. However, there’s one catch—you still can’t rent or buy movies and shows within the app.

A Long-Awaited Expansion

Apple TV+ has been around for five years, yet Android users have only been able to access it through a web browser. Given Apple’s usual preference for keeping its services within its own ecosystem, this change took longer than expected.

It’s still unclear if the rollout is global or limited to certain regions. For example, in Europe, the app still seems to be available only on smart TVs.

For Android users already subscribed to Apple TV+, this update makes streaming much easier. Many would say it’s overdue, but at least it’s finally here.
