Apple is launching the MacBook Air with M2 chip and larger screen this year

Apple plans to release a new MacBook Air later this year. A new report has emerged suggesting the device will launch in the second half of 2022.

DigiTimes announced the news, saying:

Apple’s MacBook series are high-end consumer devices but can also be considered as business laptop models as they are preferred by many businesses or office workers, the sources said, adding that the MacBook sales released in late 2021 -Hotspots Pro were expanded to the first quarter. of 2022 with higher than expected shipping volumes and the market launch of the new MacBook Air planned for the second half of the year should further boost sales.

The latest disclosure is consistent with previous reports from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who noted:

Apple originally planned to launch its new “MacBook Air” with “an all-new design, MagSafe, the M2 chip, and more” in late 2021 or early 2022, but now it looks like that schedule is shifting to the second half of 2022.

The next Macbook will likely have an updated design with slimmer bezels and different color options.

Analyst Ross Young says it will have a slightly larger 13.6-inch display, compared to 13.3-inches on the current generation.

Other rumors are that the device will come with an M2 chipset with an 8-core CPU along with a 9-core or 10-core GPU.

Another Apple analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, believes the laptop will feature an updated version of the M1 chip. He speculated that the device won’t have a mini-LED screen, which will help keep the price down. The analyst also confirmed that the MacBook Air will enter mass production in Q3, with devices hitting shelves in late 2022.
