Angelina Jolie debuts on Instagram with a heartbreaking letter from an Afghan teenage girl

Hollywood star and human rights activist Angelina Jolie took to Instagram to share stories about Afghans and others fighting for their rights.

The American actress took to Instagram and shared a message from a young Afghan woman talking about the Taliban takeover of the country.

The Taliban took control of Afghanistan on 16th August after President Ashraf Ghani fled the country.

On Saturday, the Taliban forgave everyone, including former President Ashraf Ghani.

Jolie wrote: “This is a letter sent to me by a young girl in Afghanistan. Currently, Afghans are losing the ability to communicate and express themselves freely on social media. So I came to Instagram to share their stories and the voices of those around the world who are fighting for their basic human rights.”

“I was at the Afghan border two weeks before September 11, where I met Afghan refugees who had fled the Taliban. That was twenty years ago.”

“It is disgusting to see Afghans being driven out again by the fear and insecurity that has gripped their country.”

“Spending so much time and money shedding blood and losing lives just to make it happen is an almost incomprehensible failure.”

“To see how for decades the Afghan refugees, some of the most capable people in the world, are treated as a burden is also disgusting. Knowing that if they had the tools and the respect, how much they would do for themselves. And to meet so many women and girls who not only wanted an education, but fought for it.”

“Like others who are engaged, I will not back down. I will continue to look for ways to help. And I hope you will join me.”
