The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is one of the few countries that offers a variety of visa options tailored to individual needs. It meets everyone’s needs, from long-term residence for investors to short-term travel for job seekers.
Before planning your visit to the country, it is important that you research the visa options that the UAE has to offer. Generally, these permits fall into two categories, one for visitors and one for residents.

Go To The United Arab Emirates As A Visitor
Transit Visa (48 or 96 Hours)
If you have a short stopover in the UAE, you can apply for a 48 or 96-hour transit visa. You can obtain a transit visa from an airline based in the United Arab Emirates or from a travel agency.
It is important to know that this type of visa is not extendable or renewable and the visa holder must leave the country within the time limit.
Tourist Visa (30 or 90 Days)
Tourists visiting the UAE can obtain a single or multiple-entry tourist visa valid for 30 or 90 days depending on the plan. Tourist visa applications can be submitted through a variety of channels including airlines, travel agents, hotels, or through a sponsor e.g. a family member or friend.
Applicants can also apply for tourist visas through online platforms operated by the UAE’s immigration authorities, such as the Federal Agency for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) or the Directorate-General for Foreign Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai.
Five-Year Multiple-Entry Visa
For those who frequently visit the United Arab Emirates for business or pleasure, a long-term, multiple-entry visa offers a convenient way to avoid the hassle of applying for a new entry permit each time. The five-year multiple-entry tourist visa can be applied for on the official ICP website.
According to the ICP website, people with this visa can stay up to 90 days on each visit, with the option to extend their stay for an additional 90 days. One of the mandatory requirements for this visa is the submission of a bank statement for the past six months showing a minimum balance of $4,000 (AED 14,700) or a foreign currency equivalent.
GCC Resident e-Visa
GCC residents can apply for an e-Visa through the ICP or DDRFA website. You must have a GCC residency visa and passport that is valid for at least three months from the date of arrival. This visa is valid for 30 days.
Visa For Job Seekers
The United Arab Emirates introduced a new visa for job seekers, which came into effect on 3rd October last year. People can use this visa to explore jobs, investments, and business opportunities in the country without the need for a sponsor or host.
To be eligible for the visa, applicants must be at first, second or third level qualifications according to the Ministry of Human Resources and Emirateization (MOHRE). Young graduates from the top 500 universities in the world can also apply. The minimum educational requirement for the visa is a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Visas To Stay in The UAE
Employer-Sponsored Visa
Obtaining a job offer letter from a UAE company is a requirement for people wishing to work and reside in the UAE. After accepting and signing the offer letter, the company will issue an entry permit allowing the applicant to travel to the UAE.
Upon arrival in the UAE, the employer initiates the visa application process which includes completing a medical proficiency test, providing biometric data for the Emirates ID card, and obtaining the visa stamp in the passport and visa.
Family-Sponsored Visa
Individuals wishing to bring their family, spouse, or children to the UAE can sponsor their residency visa as long as they are employees, investors, or business owners in the country or property owners in the UAE.
