Afghanistan Crisis News: Taliban Takes Complete Charge of Presidential Palace in Kabul
The Taliban took full control of Afghanistan and realized the war in the country was over.
Following the events following the takeover of the presidential palace in Kabul which prompted Western countries to expel their people on Monday amid unrest at the airport.
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani fled the country on Sunday when the revolutionaries entered the capital without virtually any obstacle.
Ashraf Ghani said he wanted to avoid bloodshed as hundreds of Afghans desperately tried to escape the flooded Kabul airport.
“Today is a great day for the Afghan people and the Mujahedin. They have seen the fruits of their efforts and sacrifices for 20 years,” Taliban politburo spokesman Mohammad Naeem told Al Jazeera TV.
“Thank goodness the war in the country is over.”
Taliban co-founder Abdul Ghani Baradar also reported on the success of his movement in a video posted to social media.
“Now is the time to test and prove, now we have to show that we can serve our nation and ensure a safe and comfortable life,” he said.
