Colin Jost opens up about Will Smith’s Oscar ban in the latest ‘SNL’ episode
Will Smith’s shocking Oscar moment has garnered massive media attention. Saturday Night Live host Colin Jost recently responded to the latest developments in the actor dispute.
When the Academy recently announced that the Bad Boys actor was now banned from acting and attending Oscar events for the next 10 years, Jost wondered if Smith’s punishment was enough for his performance.
On the final episode of the show, which aired April 9, Jost addressed the issue during the weekend update segment. He joked, “As punishment for hitting Chris Rock, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has banned Will Smith from attending the Oscars for 10 years. But is that a penalty?

“He can still be nominated. You might even win a prize. You can even go to the after party. You just don’t have to attend the four o’clock ceremony, which will definitely have someone laughing at your wife again.”
Jost, who co-hosted the Emmys alongside Michael Che, suggested punishing the Men In Black actor, saying: “Honestly, I think a real punishment would be if Will Smith hosted the Oscars next year . Because, believe me, it’s not going to happen”. You question your choices in life more than throwing an awards show.
