Houston School Shooting
The suspect is arrested at a Houston school after the shooting. The police are searching the school for other possible suspects.
The suspect’s name and motive are not yet known. The police have yet to say whether someone was injured or killed. The age of the suspect is also not apparent.
Police also issued an earlier notice confirming that there had been an active shooter report at a school.
“PD and PIO commanders are responding to reports of an active shooting at a school at 4400 Anderson Road, Hiram Clarke,” Houston police tweeted.
“The call came at 11:45 am. The scene is still active, there is no more information at the moment. Avoid the area. PIO will tweet the media production.” #HouNews.
The police did not provide any further details. This message will be updated as more information is received.
As per the ABC13, the shooting took place at a charter school, “which looks after students from sixth to twelfth grades”. More than 1,000 students are enrolled at the school, the television station reported.
“At YES Prep Southwest, we believe that a strong culture and community is essential to student success. We create systems, structures, and routines to create consistency, creativity, and school-wide success for students and staff,” says the school’s website.
“We need to create a high-quality culture so that students develop the character and academic skills necessary to graduate and ready to take leadership roles.”
Who Were The Victims?
HPD chief Troy Finner said the person in custody is a 25-year-old black man with a gun.
As per the Finner, the suspect, a former student, entered the school by pulling open a closed glass door. The suspect then opened fire on a school employee who was shot in the back.
The suspect then surrendered without incident when officers at the scene responded.
The victim, identified only as a white male, was admitted to a nearby hospital in serious condition for surgery, Finner said.
The officers searched the school for other possible suspects.

Who Are The Suspects To Be Arrested?
The Houston police tweeted around 12:30 p.m. that a suspect is in custody and officials are searching the school for other possible suspects.
The scene is still active and no further information has been provided.
KSAT’s sister station, KPRC, reports that various agencies are on site and residents are being told to avoid the area.
