Royals Were ‘Calmly Happy’ Meghan Markle Missed Prince Philip’s Funeral
Meghan Markle missed Prince Philip’s funeral in April, while her husband, Prince Harry, returned to the UK to attend.
While many would have thought her absence could be a sign of disrespect, the British royal family was “quietly pleased” that the Duchess of Sussex was absent.

This latest bombshell was dropped in a new chapter in the couple’s biography, Finding Freedom, written by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand.
The book claims that royalty was concerned that Meghan’s presence at the funeral would create a ‘circus’ or ‘spectacle’ that would divert the attention of the Duke of Edinburgh, as the funeral took place a month after the explosive interview of the couple with Oprah Winfrey.
However, the real reason the former Suits actress was unable to go to the UK with Harry was that she was pregnant with the couple’s second child, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.
