Afghan President Ashraf Ghani Leaves Aghanistan as Taliban Takes Kabul
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has left the country, as per the Afghan media sources.
Afghanistan official News Channel tweeted it as confirming that the 72-year-old left the country on Sunday.
It comes amid reports of Ghani’s possible resignation after negotiations with the Taliban, who entered the capital Kabul on Sunday and announced pardon for everyone.
In his statement, Taliban representative Zabiullah Mujahid said the Taliban will not occupy the capital “by force”.
Later, a Taliban delegation led by Abdul Ghani Baradar called on President Ghani to surrender to avoid bloodshed.
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar is said to have become the new president of Afghanistan under the Taliban.
