PTA Again Bans TikTok App and Website in Failure For Removing Inappropriate Content

The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) again bans TikTok App and website in failure for removing inappropriate content.

In a statement released to media, the regulator said the app has been blocked in the country and the web version and app are blocked at all ISPs in Pakistan.

“The action has been taken because there is still inappropriate content on the platform and that content will not be removed,” PTA said in its statement.

This is not the first time that an app has been banned by a regulator, but previous app bans have been issued for the same reasons. However, the app was later approved after the company assured the regulator that it would take the right steps to remove the indecent content.

But after this ongoing evolution, it looks like TikTok will be stuck for a long time, especially since app management broke local content rules for at least the third time.

In addition to the PTA, Pakistani courts also issued freeze orders for TikTok, which were later revoked under company guarantees.

The PTA believes that indecent content that is generally allowed on TikTok is unacceptable and violates local regulations.
