Aleister Black, Braun Strowman and 5 Others to Release From WWE Contracts

Last Updated on: 2nd June 2021, 06:35 pm

Big rumors circulated yesterday of major cuts in the WWE roster. Usually, this happens once a year, and the little names on the list are usually the ones on the chopping block. However, this time it is different.

We just heard about WWE’s six top cut names today, the most important being former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman.

Braun Strowman, Aleister Black, and Buddy Murphy to release from WWE contracts.

The three male names currently being confirm released by the company are Strowman, Aleister Black, and Buddy Murphy.

Strowman was last seen on Wrestlemania: Backlash battling for the WWE Championship in a triple threat match alongside Drew McIntyre, a match champion that Bobby Lashley has retained.

Last year at Wrestlemania, he neatly beat Goldberg and became Universal Champion.

Aleister Black was recently repackaged on Smackdown Live after a long absence from the ring. It cost Big E the Intercontinental Championship recently and apparently created a feud that is now going nowhere.

Buddy Murphy has recently shown massive weight loss and a desire to get back in shape but has not been used outside of a few games where he renewed his role as Seth Rollins’ student.

Ruby Riott, Lana, and Santana Garrett will also be released

While there was a surplus of talent in the male ranks to be released, their female departments were sparser and more sheltered. No prominent names have been released, but there are currently three names on the release list.

Ruby Riott is the biggest of the group, a longtime fan favorite, and half of The Riott Squad with Liv Morgan. Lana is also on the list, best known for her time as Rusev’s manager and the sole survivor of the 2020 Survivor Series.

Eventually, Santana Garrett was dropped, which is not a shock as she was rarely used in WWE programming.
