US actor Blair Underwood, Desiree DaCosta decides to separate after 27 years of marriage.
The couple announced their split on Sunday night in an Instagram post, writing that the breakup came after “an enormous amount of thought, prayers and work on ourselves, individually and together.”
“It was really a nice trip,” said the joint announcement. In their statement, they named their 19-year-old son and two daughters, 22 and 24, their “proud achievements”.

Underwood, 56, was twice nominated for a Golden Globe and won a 2009 Grammy for Best Spoken Word for “An Inconvenient Truth,” focusing on climate change. His dozen film and television projects include the 1995 musical “Kush Groove”, the 2000 war drama “Rules of Engagement” and the mid-2000s drama series “LAX”.
Underwood and DaCosta married in 1994. They promised each other on Sunday that they would continue to put their children’s “best interests” first.
“We will continue to be best friends and co-parents and have the greatest respect for one another as we enter this new chapter of our lives separately,” they said in their statement.
“We thank you all for your support over the years and humbly ask for your privacy and understanding during this new era of change.”
