NED University of Engineering and Technology has revised its admission policy for the 2025-26 session following a sharp decline in intermediate exam results in Karachi. Marks from intermediate exams now influence BE and BS admissions less, while entrance test scores play a greater role in forming the merit list.
A committee led by provincial education minister Syed Sardar Shah examined the low pass rates but did not see its suggestion to raise marks in physics, chemistry, and mathematics put into practice. The university now accepts only applicants with at least 57% in their intermediate exams, which may restrict some candidates.

Dr Tufail Ahmed, the Vice-Chancellor, explained that the revised system gives 60% weight to the entrance test and 40% to intermediate results, replacing the previous 50/50 split.
Admission details will be announced in the last week of March, with entrance tests scheduled for May 24 and July 12. The academic year starts on August 18, with 3016 seats across 35 programs and an extra 100 seats added this year.
