Pakistan’s squad for the Champions Trophy 2025 has undergone a late change, with Imam-ul-Haq stepping in for Fakhar Zaman ahead of the highly anticipated clash against India.
The 27-year-old left-hander, who has played 72 ODIs, has accumulated 3,138 runs at an average of 48.3.
Pakistan has been dealt a major setback, as Fakhar has been ruled out of the tournament after sustaining an injury during the game against New Zealand in Karachi. He picked up the injury while fielding in the opening over, forcing him to miss the marquee contest against India in Dubai.
The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed that Fakhar suffered an oblique tear, making him unavailable for the remainder of the competition.
Fakhar played an important role in Pakistan’s historic Champions Trophy win in 2017, delivering a match-winning century in the final against India that helped secure a dominant 180-run victory.

Sharing his thoughts on social media, Fakhar expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent Pakistan at the highest level.
“Playing for Pakistan is a dream come true for every cricketer in this country. I’ve been fortunate to wear this jersey with pride multiple times. Unfortunately, I’m out of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, but I trust Allah’s plan. I’ll be cheering for the boys from home, and this is just a new chapter. The comeback will be stronger than the setback,” he wrote on Instagram.
