The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has praised the Punjab government for increasing the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) student quota in public medical and dental colleges for the 2024-25 academic year.
The decision follows concerns over limited opportunities for ICT students, especially after the initial reduction to just three seats in the 2024-25 admission policy. In response to student protests, the PM&DC, alongside the Ministry of National Health Services and other stakeholders, advocated for a review. As a result, the quota was increased to 30 seats.

PM&DC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj emphasized that this move promotes fairness in medical education and supports student welfare, especially amid growing population pressures. The PM&DC remains committed to improving inter-provincial admission policies for greater educational equity.
