The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has launched a Rs. 370 million aid program to support 37,000 individuals with special needs across the province. Each eligible person will receive Rs 10,000 as part of the initiative.
The program was introduced at a ceremony held at the KP Chief Minister’s Secretariat, where Social Welfare Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah, lawmakers, special persons, and other attendees gathered.

During the event, the Chief Minister handed out financial assistance cheques and made an important announcement regarding official language. The term “disabled” will be replaced with “special persons” in all official documents.
The Chief Minister mentioned that people with special needs have unique skills and should be given the chance to succeed. He stated the government’s responsibility to care for vulnerable groups and ensure they get the necessary support.

He also shared that the government is collecting data on special persons, widows, and orphans to incorporate welfare programs into the regular budget. Other important announcements included providing electric wheelchairs to government employees with disabilities, increasing the dowry fund, and launching a ration card scheme for widows and senior citizens.
