The Punjab government has announced a major shift in its administrative structure, splitting the province into 10 divisions, 41 districts, and 216 Tehsils. This change was confirmed through a gazette notification issued by Governor Sardar Saleem Haider on Thursday.
The provincial revenue department shared that the Gujarat division, which was first created under Chief Minister Parvez Elahi and later dissolved by Shehbaz Sharif, has now been reinstated.
Murree and Talagang have also been upgraded to full districts.

The new administrative divisions now include Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Multan, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Bahawalpur.
In light of these changes, the government will adjust Punjab’s electoral constituencies to match the updated administrative boundaries. These steps are expected to improve governance and streamline operations across the province.
