NADRA Introduces Facial Recognition for Easier ID Verification

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) is releasing a facial recognition verification service through its Pak-ID mobile app and registration centers across the country. The service will be available starting January 15, 2025.

This move is set to make biometric and identity verification more efficient. A recent conference at NADRA’s headquarters brought together key officials and regulators to discuss ways to improve the system.

The discussion mentioned challenges in verifying identities, particularly for pensioners and older citizens with faint fingerprints. NADRA’s chairman pointed out the need for advanced solutions to overcome these hurdles and improve the user experience.
