Last Updated on: 20th November 2024, 01:15 am

Educational institutions in Karachi will remain closed for four days, as announced by the Directorate of Private Schools on Monday. This decision aligns with instructions from DIG Traffic Ahmed Nawaz Cheema, who mentioned traffic and security concerns due to the Defense Exhibition IDEAS 2024, scheduled to begin tomorrow at the Karachi Expo Center.

Karachi Educational Institutes to Close for Four Days

Schools near Sharah-e-Faisal and Habib Ibrahim Rehmatullah Road will observe closures from November 19 to 22. The move aims to ensure smooth traffic flow and heightened security during this significant event. DIG Traffic had earlier written to the Karachi Commissioner, recommending the closure of schools in affected areas.

The Directorate has urged schools within the designated zones to comply with the directive, emphasizing the need to minimize disruptions and prioritize public safety. The event includes various activities, such as an opening ceremony and international seminars, with tight security measures to accommodate dignitaries and participants.

Parents and students are encouraged to make necessary adjustments during this period, as roads near the venue will face significant restrictions:

  • National Stadium Flyover: Completely closed to all traffic.
  • Stadium Road: Limited access from AKU Hospital to Hasan Square and from the stadium signal to Hasan Square.
  • Sharah-e-Faisal to Karsaz Road: Heavy and commercial vehicles barred.
  • Drigh Road: Diversions for heavy and commercial traffic through Sharah-e-Faisal.
  • Millennium Mall to Stadium Road: Restricted for heavy vehicles.
  • NIPA to Hasan Square and Jail Chowrangi to Hasan Square: Heavy vehicles not allowed.

Alternate routes, such as Shaheed-e-Millat and Teen Hatti roads, are suggested for commercial vehicles. Section 144 has also been enforced until November 24, prohibiting gatherings of five or more people in these areas.

Institutions like The Educationist Hub Institute in Sultanabad Colony, New Golimar are unaffected and will operate as usual.
