Last Updated on: 6th March 2024, 10:43 am

Ramadan, the holiest month in the Islamic lunar calendar, holds profound significance for Muslims worldwide. It is a time of heightened spiritual devotion and physical discipline, marked by fasting from dawn until sunset, abstaining from food, drink, smoking, and intimate relations.

Ramadan 2024 Working Hours for UAE:

As Muslims prepare to observe this sacred period, adjustments to daily routines, including working hours, are anticipated across the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In the UAE, businesses and government offices traditionally modify their operating hours during Ramadan to accommodate the religious practices of employees. Here are the updated working hours for Ramadan 2024 in the UAE:

Working Hours for Government or Public Sectors:

Government employees will observe official working hours from 9 am to 2:30 pm, Monday to Thursday, and from 9 am to 12 pm on Fridays, in line with the guidance from the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR).

Furthermore, the FAHR permits up to 70 percent of government employees to opt for remote work on Fridays, fostering operational efficiency while respecting the sanctity of Ramadan.

Working Hours for Private Sectors:

Private sector employees will experience a reduction of two hours in their daily working hours throughout Ramadan, as announced by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE). This adjustment aims to enable employees to fulfill their spiritual obligations and honor their cultural traditions during this significant period.

Companies may also offer remote work options or flexible schedules, provided they adhere to the Ministry’s prescribed working hour limits.
