Saudi Arabia Declares Public Holiday
Saudi Arabia has announced a national holiday on Saturday, September 23, commemorating the 1932 decree issued by King Abdulaziz renaming the Kingdom of Najd and Hejaz the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, private and non-profit organizations will celebrate the 93rd National Day as a public holiday.
Section 24 sets out the rules that employers must follow in relation to public holidays. The ministry urged all employers to follow the guidelines to ensure the smooth running of the national event.
In addition, students from all schools and universities will enjoy a day off on Sunday, September 24, to take part in the Kingdom’s National Day celebrations.
This year’s National Day will be a long weekend as September 23 falls on a Saturday, providing a time of relaxation and celebration, especially for those who work six days a week.
People who work a normal five-day week also have a day off to take part in the celebrations, making it a time of inclusive celebration.
