Elon Musk Attacks Zuckerberg For Hiring Laid-off Twitter Employees To Develop The Threads App

Twitter is unhappy with Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, over its new app called Threads.

Twitter believes Thread is a copycat of its platform and is threatening legal action.

The microblogging site claimed that Meta hired former Twitter engineers to create the app, which it says violates their intellectual property rights.

However, Meta dismissed the claims, stating that none of the engineers working on Threads had previously worked for Twitter. Twitter owner Elon Musk also accused Meta of fraud.

In a letter to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Twitter expressed concern about Meta stealing its trade secrets and confidential information.

Twitter said Meta recruited several former Twitter employees who had access to these secrets and accused them of improper management of Twitter documents and devices.

Twitter alleges that Meta used this information to speed up thread development, in violation of the law and its obligations to Twitter.

Musk’s own platform asked Meta to keep any documents that could be relevant to possible litigation between the two companies. Elon Musk also commented on the situation, saying that competition is good, but cheating is not.

Meta responded to the Twitter allegations and dismissed them. Meta’s attorney said none of the engineers working at Threads had previously worked for Twitter.

The discussions quickly became popular after publication, as some people took issue with Twitter’s recent decisions, such as E.g. the tweet view restriction, and paid blue tick, etc. were dissatisfied. According to Zuckerberg, the app had 30 million subscriptions within 24 hours. As of May 2022, Twitter had 229 million monthly active users.

Although Threads is similar to Twitter, it doesn’t have the same features. For example, users cannot post lengthy videos or run chat rooms like Twitter Spaces. Also, you can’t send direct messages in threads or use hashtags.
