Dubai Laborers Get Free Cars And More Than 1,000 Apple iPhones During Eid Al-Adha
The Standing Committee on Labor Affairs of Dubai has announced a social initiative called ‘Saada’, meaning happiness, on the occasion of the Eid Al-Adha celebrations.
Under the motto “Let’s Celebrate Eid Together”, the initiative aims to offer gifts worth millions of dirhams to workers residing in Dubai.
According to the information, three lucky workers will receive free cars, and thousands more will receive iPhones from Apple this Eid.
Saada’s wellness initiative will take place in workers’ housing in Al Quoz, Jebel Ali, and Muhaisnah. It applies to all workers living in Dubai.
As reported by the Khaleej Times, Maj. Gen. Obaid Muhair bin Suroor, chairman of the Standing Committee on Labor Affairs, said all workers would be given vouchers to attend Saada.
He also assured the workers that they would help them fill in the data on the gift cards, which would then be collected in a lottery box. The drawing will take place on Eid day in the work areas mentioned above.
Obaid explained that the drawing will take place over three days and the car prize will be drawn on the last day of Eid Al-Adha.
The initiative includes not only giveaways but also other types of entertainment, such as folkloric and cultural shows, to attract workers to construction sites.
Funded by the Dubai Charity Association and the Beit Al Khair Society, the initiative will also provide workers with delicious lunches to mark Eid Al-Adha, committee officials said.
Several organizations and partners support this program including the Department of Economic Development (DED), Dubai Municipality, Department of Islamic Affairs and Charities, Dubai Police, and the General Directorate of Residence and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA).
Abdullah Lashakri Muhammad, Secretary General of the Committee, described the initiative as a show of appreciation, noting that workers are beautifying the UAE and its cities.
He added that they are the hardest working part of Dubai as they leave their families to work in the UAE.
