All The Scheduled Dates For UAE Long Weekend For Eid Al-Adha
Eid Al-Adha is upon us and UAE residents can look forward to a long weekend just before schools close for a two-month summer break.
The length of the weekend depends on the sighting of the moon, which determines the beginning and end of the months of the Islamic calendar.
The holidays for Eid Al-Adha fall between the 9th and 12th of Dhul Hijjah in the Islamic calendar, however, dates in the Gregorian calendar may vary depending on moon sightings.
Based on current calculations, the bank holiday is expected to last from Tuesday 27 June to Friday 30 June, which together with the regular weekend makes a six-day break.
If the moon is visible on the night of June 18, Dhul Hijjah begins on June 19, resulting in a six-day weekend beginning on June 27. If not recognized, Dhul Hijjah begins on June 20th, resulting in a five-day weekend beginning on June 28th.
The length of the weekend, whether five or six days, will be confirmed on June 18 after the moon sighting.
