Air Taxi Manufacturing Will Create More Than 2,000 Jobs in The UAE
The US air taxi specialist Odys Aviation wants to build aircraft in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Californian start-up will set up a production facility for the production of air taxis in the United Arab Emirates and plans to have these aircraft in service by 2027.
The UAE Ministry of Economy has included Odys Aviation in its NextGen Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) program, which supports innovative companies in high-potential sectors.
Odys Aviation is focused on the development of hybrid electric vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft suitable for regional and short-haul “air taxi” routes.
Air taxis serve to transport passengers, cargo, and emergency services. They offer an all-electric range of 320 kilometers and a hybrid-electric range of more than 1,200 kilometers.
These aircraft have the potential to significantly reduce CO2 emissions from air travel in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region by up to 76%. They also offer a carbon-neutral travel alternative in the United Arab Emirates.
Thanks to this initiative, more than 2,000 direct and indirect jobs will be created. It enables the first aircraft to be exported with the “Made in the UAE” certificate. This collaboration with Odys Aviation is an important step in the UAE’s goal of developing an innovation-driven, knowledge-based economy.
