Emirates Will Soon Phase Out Paper Boarding Passes

One of the world’s leading airlines, Emirates, has decided to phase out traditional paper boarding passes from May 15, 2023.

Instead, it will issue online boarding passes via email and SMS to its passengers checking in at Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport (DXB).

Passengers can also view their digital boarding passes via Apple Wallet, Google Wallet, or the Emirates app.

According to the airline, the digital version of the boarding pass can be used at various points in the airport, including in shops, at security checkpoints and at the boarding gate.

Although digital boarding passes are available over the phone, some passengers still require a paper version. These passengers include those traveling with infants, unaccompanied minors, travelers requiring special assistance, and those traveling to the United States (USA).

It’s worth mentioning here that people who have trouble accessing their digital boarding pass can obtain a hard copy at the DXB check-in counter. Problems can be that your phone has a dead battery, no internet connection, no phone, text, or email delivery issues, or some other technical issues.

Emirates regularly employs digital practices in its operations. Recently, Terminal 3 has also introduced biometric services for all passengers, previously only available to UAE and GCC citizens.
