Paper Lace’s Cliff Fish Cause of Death
Cliff Fish, 73, was a member of the pop group Paper Lace.
The group enjoyed phenomenal success in the 1970s, scoring numerous number-1 hits worldwide and numerous top 40 songs and music videos. The Night Chicago Died and Billy Don’t Be a Hero are two of their most famous songs.
Cliff was in his late twenties when the band first rose to prominence, and although they didn’t release many new songs after the 1970s, he still played with the Nottingham-based band occasionally.
The Sun received a statement from Cliff’s wife Elaine and son Rob, which said: “We just wanted to share the sad news that Cliff passed away on Friday afternoon after losing his battle with cancer.”
They explained that the two years of battling cancer were difficult, but Cliff faced it with “valor, courage, and lived his life to the fullest.”
They added: “Anyone who knows Cliff will already know what a kind, caring, fun-loving, wonderful, and genuine person he was and what a pleasure it was to spend time in his company.”
“Not only is he a gifted musician and performer, but he has been successful in everything he has done in life and has been a devoted husband, father, and grandfather throughout.”
His friends immediately showed their support, with one person writing: “My condolences to you all, Cliff was a great musician but like you said he was a lovely guy too. RIP.”
Cliff’s Facebook page also announced his death and thanked the two carers who “treated and fought Cliff to the end” by confirming he died at his home in Cyprus.
Cliff’s family said they are planning a celebration of his life in the UK and will keep his fans updated if they want to show their support.
Another added: “What a sad day, Cliff was a truly lovely man, it was a pleasure to have met him and his family, thoughts of you all.”
Cliff is survived by his wife Elaine and their sons Jon and Rob.
