Apple Released An Urgent Warning To iPhone Users
Apple has alerted millions of iPhone users to a pop-up notification that appears when water is detected in the phone’s charging port.
Ignoring the notification can result in corrosion of the Lightning connector pins or cables, which can result in permanent damage or connectivity issues.
Two types of notifications appear with a yellow warning triangle and a blue water drop inside.
The first alert warns “Charge unavailable,” while the second alert reads “Liquid detected in the Lightning connector.” It is important not to ignore either notification except in serious cases.
Apple has made some suggestions on how to dry your iPhone, e.g. Lightly tap the Lightning connector down to remove excess liquid, place it in a dry place with adequate airflow, and wait about 30 minutes before attempting to charge.
If the notification reappears, it indicates that liquid remains, and you should leave the iPhone in a dry place with some air for up to a day before attempting to charge or connect a Lightning accessory.
Apple warns against drying the iPhone with external heat sources or compressed air and does not recommend inserting foreign objects such as cotton swabs or paper towels into the Lightning connector.
It is also recommended not to put the iPhone in a bag of rice as it may damage the device.
