Punjab Declares Free Travel For Students On The Metro Bus And Orange Line Train
Punjab’s interim government has announced free travel on the subway and Orange Line trains for Lahore students.
Acting Chief Minister of Punjab Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi made the announcement while chairing a provincial cabinet meeting.
Uniformed students in Lahore can use the Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT), Metro Bus Service, and Speedo Bus free of charge any day of the week.
It is important to note that the Punjab government is currently discussing a plan to offer free OLMT transport to school children in Lahore from 2022.
The cabinet also decided to revoke the licenses of 56 salt mining companies operating in the province.
The government set up a committee to handle the paperwork needed to revoke the license and passed an improved rock salt policy to increase transparency in the salt extraction process.
In line with the prime minister’s energy-saving policy, the meeting instructed the Energy Ministry to implement energy-saving measures.
