Anapaula Huggins was found alive, according to Fairhaven Police.

At approximately 3:22 p.m., police posted on the Fairhaven Police Department Facebook page:

“On behalf of the Fairhaven Police Department, we would like to thank all cooperating authorities and the public for their assistance in our search.”

“We are pleased to report that Anapaula Huggins was found alive by law enforcement.”

Further information was not immediately available.

Several police officers, firefighters, and other public safety agencies had traveled by land and sea on Tuesday in search of Anapaula Huggins, 43, a mother of two who had been missing since Monday morning.

Kevin Kobza, Lt. Fairhaven Police said they searched the entire 31-mile coast of Fairhaven by air, land, and sea.

The search began in the Pope Beach neighborhood of Manhattan Avenue, where she was last seen.

Kobza said Huggins left his Raymond Street apartment just after 7 am. From Monday. She was last seen on video at 7:30 am. M. Taken from a private residence walking on the beach. She was reported missing around 11:30 a.m.

He told a news conference Tuesday afternoon from the beach that she was wearing a brown jacket and black pants.

She doesn’t wear shoes, she said but added that it’s not unusual for her.

“From what we’ve been told, she usually goes barefoot when she leaves the house to walk her dog,” she said.

The dog was found by Fairhaven Animal Control around 9:30 a.m. with no sign of Huggins and was released to the family.

Kobza said police went door to door asking people with surveillance cameras if they took pictures of Huggins.

Police also urged residents to search their cars, sheds, on-site RVs, and open basements.

He said: “We currently have active air, sea, and land resources. We have a massive state police force and I believe the Coast Guard Air Detachment is operational. We have Coast Guard vessels, Harbor Master.”

In addition to assistance from various police and fire departments from different parts of the state, state police, environmental police, the Department of Recreation and Parks, and the Coast Guard were all involved in the search, Kobza said.

“We practically summoned the cavalry,” he said.
