Youcef Matoug Has Confessed To Killing His Wife Assia Matoug
A man confessed to brutally killing his wife with his bare hands and then cutting off her skull.
The remains of Assia Matoug were discovered in the famous French park of Buttes-Chaumont, considered “one of the most beautiful parks in Paris”.
Now Yousef Matoug has admitted the horrific attack and is trying to hide the evidence in a park used in the hit Netflix series Emily in Paris.
On 13th February more than a week later, gardeners at the park discovered, to their horror, a woman’s pelvis hidden in a discarded plastic bag.
Detectives discovered Assia’s head in another garbage bag after examining the body part.
The couple’s extended family, originally from Algeria, have welcomed their three children, aged 8, 14, and 16.
Prosecutors say Matoug, a former grocery store clerk, was unemployed for “several months” while his wife worked for charities.
In the neighborhood where they lived, the family was valued and respected, and one neighbor commented that there was “no sign of tension”.
In supervised interviews, Matoug claimed that instead of wanting to kill his wife, a regular domestic argument got out of hand.
His defense attorney Dominique Beyreuther-Minkov told Le Parisien: “My client is devastated. It was explained in the most humane way possible. The judiciary will now do its work.”
