WhatsApp Video Calls Get Picture-in-Picture Support

After releasing the feature in iOS 22.24.0.79 beta, WhatsApp is finally rolling out picture-in-picture support for video calling in a stable update for everyone. The update is now officially available for everyone on the latest version of WhatsApp iOS.

The app’s official changelog confirms that picture-in-picture mode is now available for video calls, allowing you to multitask without interruption. To check if the feature is enabled for your WhatsApp account, try making a video call.

This update also provides access to additional features, including the ability to add captions and longer topic and group descriptions to documents (originally released with the WhatsApp for iOS 23.3 Beta .0.70 update) that make it easier to describe your groups. These features came to Android a few weeks ago.

Please note that some accounts may not have access to new features immediately. As noted in the official changelog, these features may roll out to accounts in the coming weeks. To ensure you have the latest updates and features, we recommend that you regularly update WhatsApp through the App Store and TestFlight app.

If you don’t have the feature even after updating to the latest version, just wait as this is a step-by-step introduction. It will come to your device sooner or later.

In addition, WhatsApp is also working to add 2GB of file downloads and voice memo transcripts for iOS and Android. These features are currently only available in beta versions.
