Azam Khan Was Sworn in As KP Caretaker Chief Minister
Former provincial secretary-general Azam Khan was sworn in as acting prime minister by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Saturday.
CP Governor Haji Ghulam Ali swears in Azam Khan, who was unanimously appointed to the post by the government and opposition the day before, in a ceremony attended by several officials.
Earlier in the day, on the recommendation of outgoing Prime Minister Mahmood Khan and opposition leader Akram Durrani, the governor signed an executive order appointing Khan to the coveted post.
The government and opposition announced the name of the coveted post at a joint press conference. Two other members were also previously considered, including Zafarullah Khan and Sahibzada Saeed.
Mahmood Khan announced that the two parties had chosen Azam Khan as a person acceptable to all and further mentioned that the PTI had appointed him after consultation with the party leaders.
The latest development comes days after the dissolution of the CP provincial legislature after the governor signed the CM summary for the dissolution of the CP assembly.

Former bureaucrat Muhammad Azam Khan graduated from the University of Peshawar and then went to Lincoln’s Inn in London to get his law degree.
He served in the Government of Pakistan for many years. During his tenure, he held key positions in the Department of Finance, Planning, and Development and was Secretary of State in the Department of Petroleum and Natural Resources and Secretary of State in the Department of Religious Affairs.
Azam Khan also served as chief secretary and secretary of various ministries in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
