Bruna Fonseca Was Found Dead in Cork After Being Strangled And Beaten
Police believe a man the woman knew beat and strangled a woman who was found dead in an apartment.
On New Year’s Eve, 28-year-old Bruna Fonseca was strangled in bed.
After the grisly discovery of the apartment in Cork City, the Gardai have launched an investigation.
The Brazilian’s body was discovered in his apartment on Liberty Street, just steps from the Washington Street Courthouse and not far from the heart of the city.
A man contacted the Gardai this morning and informed them of an incident.
One arrest was made under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 and a 29-year-old man is being held at nearby Bridewell Garda station.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts to revive her. Rescue workers were alerted and rushed to the scene of the accident.
The apartment was locked to allow Garda forensic scientists to conduct a thorough technical and forensic investigation.
Yesterday, Gardai conducted door-to-door surveys in the neighborhood and on the street where the San Francisco Church is located.
You will also collect CCTV footage of the roadway lined with commercial buildings.
The woman’s body was removed from the home around noon and taken to Cork University Hospital, where Dr. Margaret Bolster, Assistant State Pathologist, performed a thorough autopsy.
The type of Gardai examination will be decided by the results of the autopsy.
They don’t give details of the findings, but sources say the woman was beaten and strangled.
