Stephen tWitch Boss, the popular dance DJ from The Ellen DeGeneres Show and former So You Think You Can Dance contestant, has died at the age of 40. Allison Holker Boss’ wife confirmed his death in a statement to People.com on Wednesday.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office confirmed Boss’s death to CBC News on Wednesday.
“I have to say from the bottom of my heart that my husband Stephen has left us,” she said.
“Stephen lit up every room he walked into. He valued family, friends, and community above all else, and leading with love and the light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband, father, and an inspiration to his fans, his statement didn’t provide any details about the cause of death.”
Career
In 2014, Boss joined The Ellen DeGeneres Show as a guest DJ. He eventually became a permanent fixture on the show and was promoted to co-executive producer in 2020.
The late star previously co-hosted Disney’s Fairytale Weddings with Allison. He has also appeared in many high-profile films and shows including Magic Mike XXL, Modern Family and Step Up All In.
Off-screen, Boss posted fun dancing videos on social media with his wife Allison, who also competed on SYTYCD. Their children often joined the couple in their dance video posts.
